If everybody starts driving electric cars, will alot of auto mechanicanics be put out of work?

We usually need these guys when the internal combustion engine in our cars need to be fixed. I have a fan that has an electric motor, it has been in use for 60 years and that motor has never needed a repair ( its my Grandma’s) Could the cars powered by electric motors become this reliable?

  1. the truth is the internal combustion engine is such a small part of what mechanics do. I know everyone hates mechanics and casts them out as charlatan, trust me I know how to work on my own car I have been working on cars for 20 years now. Even I sometimes want to take my car to a mechanic. But to answer your question the Utopia that you speak of will never happen because even now the car company’s have realized the value of "planned obsolesces". Car company’s can make a car last longer, but why would they? We as people get tired and want the newest and best comfort features available. Can you live with the same car for 60 years? Things will always break on a car because of the biggest flaw in the design, it still requires a human to drive it.
